Born in 1960, married. Travel organizer, photographer, artist, author, fasting retreat leader.
I grew up in a small village on the River Spree, in the Oberlausitz region of former East Germany – surrounded by heathlands, fishponds, forests, and open meadows. As a young man I moved first to East Berlin, then – before the fall of the Berlin Wall – to West Berlin. Since the mid-1990s, I have been traveling regularly to faraway places, especially to Asia, Africa, and Latin America. By now, it has been well over a hundred journeys.
Today I live with my family in the Spreewald, at the edge of the biosphere reserve, in a wide river landscape. Nature, alongside the people closest to me, is my deepest source of strength – and my most important teacher.
The photo above was taken at Mt. Everest in Tibet.
On my earliest journeys abroad, I discovered a deep passion for photography – later also for videography. It was the wish to hold onto fleeting moments, to shape them in a way that could be shared.
Over the years, this has grown into a wide archive of images and film sequences, filled with landscapes, encounters, and stories. A selection can be seen on Worlds Images:
After my first long journey through Southeast Asia in 1994/95, I founded "Exotische Reisen" ("Exotic Journeys"). For many years I organized and personally guided trips to destinations around the globe. Even today, I occasionally still lead small groups myself.
A serious health crisis in the early 1990s led me to fasting, fasting retreats, and a more conscious diet with natural foods. From this personal experience grew my first seminars in the late 1990s – later co-created and guided together with my wife, Katja.
In my books I share insights into health, nutrition, and culture, interwoven with personal reflections. They invite readers to see life’s connections with greater clarity – and to discover perspectives for health, freedom, and inner balance.
